USEFUL INFORMATION

EXTRACTING A RADIO FROM THE DASHBOARD

Check this website www.fitaudio.com
or search YouTube for a video

1...Using a pair of Extractor Keys
If your radio has 2 pairs of holes on either side approx. 35mm ( 1
.5")
vertically apart then a pair of UNIVERSAL EXTRACTOR KEYS will be required.
Available on Ebay or from your local Car Audio Shop (eg Halfords)

Insert them into each pair of holes (right + left) at the same time.
This will release the 4 retaining clips on the radio casing
Whilst doing that get a colleague to pull the radio out from the dashboard

2....Using something else
..If you don`t have the correct extractor tools , then inserting
4 pieces of wire (using 4 pieces cut from a wire coathanger perhaps)
or 4 small screwdrivers or 4 small Allen keys or even 4 darts
into the four holes on the front (at the SAME TIME)
whilst an assistant pulls the radio out of the dashboard will also work, with patience!.
This can be fiddly as all 4 retaining clips have
to be released at the same time but it is possible using care + patience.

Here is a useful video

 www.youtube.com/watch?v=urC-4NbXvDQ

Note : On some BLAUPUNKT radios the 4 holes may be
protected by small screws.T
hese can be unscrewed using the appropriate size of small Allen key.

UNIVERSAL EXTRACTOR KEYS

Cheap Extractors are available on Ebay

FORD INFORMATION

TO ENTER THE SECURITY KEYCODE FOR MOST FORDs
Switch the ignition ON using the key

Switch Radio ON - Display Shows
CODE with " - - - - " flashing

Press Preset Button "
1 " repeatedly for 1st Digit of your KeyCode
Press Preset Button "
2 " repeatedly for 2nd Digit of your KeyCode
Press Preset Button "
3 " repeatedly for 3rd Digit of your Keycode
Press Preset Button "
4 " repeatedly for 4th Digit of your Keycode
If the display now shows the correct KeyCode number then
Press Preset Button "
5 " to Enter

Providing your KeyCode was correct then your radio / cassette or CD should now be working

.

WRONG ENTRY : FORD

If a wrong entry is made , then the display reverts to
CODE allowing another attempt.

After a third incorrect attempt, a 30 minute delay ensues before a fourth try may be attempted.

The display shows WAIT 30:00 with the time counting down to 00:00
Once at 00:00 ,
CODE is displayed again and the unit is ready for another KeyCode attempt.

If further wrong codes are entered then this waiting procedure must then be followed between each single successive attempt up to a total of TEN

If even more wrong codes are entered then LOCK 13 .will appear on the display. If your radio displays LOCK 13
then the only option now is to take it in to the Ford Main Dealer or Decode Specialist so that they can electronically unlock it
~Unfortunately there is no D-I-Y method to unlock this
LOCK 13 situation so be prepared to pay a small fortune !

FORD : TEN WRONG ENTRIES LOCK 10

After TEN incorrect Keycode entry attempts LOCK 10 (or LOCKED ) will appear to confirm that the unit is now locked out.

According to Ford you must now take the unit into your local Ford Dealer to unlock it.

However , luckily , on most Ford models , with
LOCK 10 you may have at least 3 more chances before you have to take it in to the Ford Dealer.

SEE BELOW

INSTRUCTIONS TO RESTORE FROM LOCK 10

situation ...for free !
